I must admit, it was never my intention to restart a business making Shaker chairs after building many thousands of them over 45 years, but when a new generation of builders expresses an interest and respect for the craft, it was hard to turn my back on the opportunity to teach someone what I know and help them bring their products to market.
I have known Sean Carney for a few years, and in that time, I have grown to understand and appreciate his commitment to quality, customer relations, and legacy, the importance of preserving a furniture design and style that has survived centuries of reproduction, and sadly, exploitation. (Imagine my surprise seeing something called “Shaker Chairs” on the Walmart website — absolutely nothing Shaker about them but the use of the name!)
I will continue to teach, consult, and be Sean’s ambassador for these beautiful chairs, which will be made, once again, in Maine. — Ross Timberlake
SHAKER style COUNTER & BAR STOOLS
When OPEN CONCEPT home designs gained popularity with architects and builders in the 1980s, eliminating a formal dining room separated from the kitchen by a dividing wall, Ross Timberale was already planning on adding made-to-order Counter Stools to the S. Timberlake Co. catalog of products.
Our stools are made to fit YOUR home, which means seat heights are not only adjsuted for the height of the counter, but for the comfort of the homeowner as well. We make counter and bar height stools that fit into narrow spaces, and we make stools that have extra large seats. We encourage you to contact us for more information.

SHAKER style CHAIRS
The same Method of Work that was followed by the makers of S.Timberlake Co. from 1974 – 2020, is found in every one of our individually crafted chairs and stools.
Care is taken to select the best woods available from reliable, sustainable sources, and to ensure the proper fit of the component parts. It may be an over-used term, but this attention to detail is why hundreds of S. Timberlake Co. chairs are still in daily use today.

CUSTOM SHAKER CHAIRS & STOOLS
MADE-TO-ORDER
We have made hundreds of reproductions of chairs and stools made by the Shaker craftsmen and women from a number of communities, though mostly the Northeast communities in New Hampshire and Connecticut. We are open to reproducing chairs with distinct finials but we are currently limiting our production of these chairs this year. Lead times will be 8 – 10 months.
